Coffee night. The anticipated message comes that coffee night will take place. That night was Monday night. It’s a night where ten or so of us women from our church get together and just talk, all surrounded by cups of coffee. Talk about our personalities, our kids, our lives. I enjoy this time because I can actually just sit back and listen. Listen to what women are looking for to make a better marriage or how to understand why their kids do what they do. I don’t have to prepare a lesson or give a talk. I just get to indulge myself in listening. By doing this it gives me stories to tell (no names of course...well maybe just a few!) when I speak or write. It helps me to see how God see’s us as women, wives and mothers.
One thing we do is laugh. Laugh about our mistakes, but most importantly laugh about ourselves. We laugh about those that have choleric personalities and want to control everything or people around them. We laugh about things that are bedazzled where they shouldn’t be or how the black bean gluten-free brownies were "interesting". We laugh, but then, we can be serious and talk about dancing at a Valentine’s Party at the church. Is it right or is it wrong? I’ll let you decide. Just wish I had some pictures to show you some examples that were given!
I encourage you to start a Coffee Night. Invite some friends over. Invite someone that you’ve never really talked to before, but want to get to know. Invite someone that just needs a break from the mundane and needs to laugh. God wants us to fellowship. He wants us to laugh. He wants us to encourage and impart. Sometimes He just wants us to listen.
